Review

Tom at the Farm is a grand performance of rare intensity, transforming a psychological thriller into a theatrical event of international stature. Rodrigo Portella’s direction elevates Michel Marc Bouchard’s play into a gripping confrontation with grief, secrecy, and patriarchal violence, staged with breathtaking scale and atmosphere.

From the first moment, the production’s intense and gripping energy never loosens its hold. The muddy, visceral set and stark lighting heighten the claustrophobic tension, while the narrative unfolds with perfect pacing—measured yet unrelenting, each beat driving the audience deeper into Tom’s perilous journey.

What makes this production unforgettable is its perfect acting. The cast deliver performances of extraordinary power, balancing vulnerability and menace, tenderness and brutality. Every gesture and silence resonates, capturing the contradictions of masculinity, repression, and desire.

Awarded First Place in the Best Production Award, Tom at the Farm was recognised for its masterful blend of scale, precision, and artistry. It is a production both grand in vision and flawless in execution—an intense, haunting experience that will stay with audiences long after the curtain falls.
