Our Mission
At Intercultural Connections Initiative (ICI), we believe in the transformative power of art to bridge cultural divides and foster meaningful connections across the globe. Our mission is to create a platform where artists from diverse backgrounds can come together, collaborate, and share their unique perspectives, transcending boundaries and building a more inclusive world through creative expression.
Who We Are
Based in Edinburgh, ICI works with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and other cultural platforms to promote cross-cultural understanding through the arts. We bring together artists, audiences, and cultural organisations from around the world, creating opportunities for dialogue, collaboration, and creative exchange.
Our Projects
Chinese Culture Week (CCW)
A vibrant celebration of Chinese arts and traditions held during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. CCW brings together global audiences to explore Chinese culture through performances, exhibitions, workshops, and discussions.
Intercultural Connections Award (IC Award)
Celebrates performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe that embody global cultural exchange and transcend language barriers. Winners gain opportunities to tour in China and connect with leading arts organisations.
Theatre Education for Young People (TEFYP)
Nurturing young talent through theatre education in collaboration with top conservatoires including the Royal Scottish Conservatoire, Birmingham Royal Conservatoire, and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
Global Female Artists Support Programme (GFASP)
Empowering women in the arts by providing platforms, resources, and opportunities for female artists from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Expanding Engagement Programme (EEP)
Broadening access to cultural experiences and creating pathways for wider audience participation in the arts.
